To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if his Department has considered the queries raised by the Comptroller and Auditor General concerning its annual accounts for 1989–90; and if he will make a statement.

We have, of course, given careful consideration to the Comptroller and Auditor General's comments, and action has been taken to improve the Department's accounting performance.
