Mr. David Marshall
To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many members of staff the Greater Glasgow health board has in its public relations departments; what is the annual budget and running cost of this department; and what is the value of the contract awarded by the board to an outside public relations consultancy to advise the board as to how it might improve its communications with the public and staff.
Mr. Michael Forsyth
[holding answer 19 November 1990]: The public relations department of Greater Glasgow health board employs three officers and a secretary; expenditure for 1989–90 was £100,000 per annum. The value of any contracts placed with outside consultants is a matter of commercial confidence.
