To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he last met representatives of Strathclyde regional council's education committee, to discuss the quality of education in schools in Strathclyde; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. and learned Friend has not recently had any such meeting. He met the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities on 6 July to discuss financial support for local authority services including education, and will do so again on 26 November.
