To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects a computerised call and recall system will be set up in order to allow all Scottish women to have regular cervical screening in whichever health board area they live.

Fully computerised call and recall systems are in operation in all health board areas except Highland and Lothian which have partially computerised systems. These boards expect to have full systems soon, Highland this financial year, and Lothian next financial year. In addition around 600 general practitioners now use GPASS—general practice administration system for Scotland—which also provides a computerised call and recall for cervical cytology.
