To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what correspondence he has received from Amnesty International concerning (a) detention without trial, (b) incidences of torture and (c) extra-judicial executions in Sudan; and if he will make a statement.

We are aware of Amnesty International concerns about the abuse of human rights in Sudan. We share those concerns and have made our views known to the Sudanese authorities bilaterally, through the European Community and within the UN framework.
