To ask the Secretary of State for Health what right an NHS patient has to seek a home visit by their general practitioner; and if he will make a statement.

Where, in a GP's clinical judgement, a patient's condition is such that a home visit is needed then the GP is required to make such a visit under the terms of service.Since 1 April 1990, a GP visiting his or her patient between the hours of 10 pm and 8 am may claim a fee of some £45. If such a visit is delegated by the GP to a deputy then £15 may be claimed.
