To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from the National Rivers Authority about the need for local planning authorities to consult the National Rivers Authority about the availability of water supplies before planning permissions are approved.

[holding answer 20 December 1990]: My right hon. Friend is not aware of any such representations. He listens closely to any comments or proposals which the National Rivers Authority may make to him.
