To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will describe the circumstances, and the charges involved, when the sale of names and addresses from publicly available community charge information is allowed; and whether he will make a statement.

Section 20(6) of the Abolition of Domestic Rates Etc. (Scotland) Act 1987 provides that a person shall be entitled to obtain a copy, or a copy certified by or on behalf of the community charges registration officer, of any entry in the register which he is entitled to inspect. A fee of £1 per register entry is prescribed for this purpose.
