Bomb Scares

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what advice is given to local education authorities and to governors of (a) local education authority maintained schools, (b) grant-maintained schools, (c) local education author:ity maintained colleges and (d) colleges of higher education and polytechnics about how the staff of these institutions should be involved with the police when searching for explosive material during a bomb scare.

No advice is given by the Department on how to deal with local emergencies. The police, who should be the first point of contact in the event of an emergency, will give all necessary advice.
