To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security in how many cases the six-month waiting period for attendance allowance has been waived since the relaxation of the rule for terminally ill people.

From 1 October to 31 December 1990 there were 14,200 awards of attendance allowance under the special rules for people with a terminal illness. This figure includes awards made on review.
