To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Dundee, East (Mr. McAllion) on 13 March, Official Report, columns 613–19, if he will now provide final figures for homelessness applications in 1989–90 and provisional figures for 1990–91 in each Scottish district council.

A small number of late returns have since been received. Revised figures for the authorities involved are as follows:

We estimate that some 2,000 returns, mostly from Glasgow, remain outstanding. It is unlikely that substantial further numbers will now be received and these figures may be regarded as final. Subsequent revisions to the Scotland total will be published in Statistical Bulletins on Housing Trends in Scotland. Response from local authorities is not yet sufficient to release provisional figures for 1990–91.
