Mr. John Marshall
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, whether he proposes to introduce planning controls over the demolition of houses; and if he will make a statement.
Sir George Young
[pursuant to his answer, 10 May 1991, c. 622.]: The Government have today published a consultation paper on proposed methods of extending planning control over the demolition of dwellinghouses in England and Wales. The options set out in the paper are designed to introduce controls selectively, where they are needed, while minimising the regulatory burden where demolition is unlikely to give rise to adverse effects on the local amenity and neighbouring property.
