To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the number of drinking water supplies in Scotland that reach the level of the EEC directive on drinking water; and if he will name them.

[holding answer 22 July 1991]: There are 331 public water supply zones in Scotland assessed as meeting the requirements of the EC drinking water directive, which are now incorporated into the Water Supply (Water Quality) (Scotland) Regulations 1990. I will send the hon. Member a list of their names and arrange for a copy to be placed in the Library of the House.
