To ask the Secretary of State for Health what has been the level of pharmaceutical price increases over the last 12 months.

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry has published figures which show pharmaceutical companies prices rising by 1.9 per cent. in 1989 and 2.5 per cent. in 1990.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what changes there have been in the basic elements of the pharmaceutical price regulation scheme in the past 12 months.

None. The PPRS continues to be operated on the basis of the 1986 agreement.
