To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the future of recreation and leisure courses following the publication of the White Paper "Education and Training for the 21st Century".

The duty to secure adequate provision of recreational and leisure education for adults will remain with local education authorities. It will be for authorities, as now, to determine their expenditure across the services for which they are responsible.
