To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he will report on the extent to which doctors in the Northern health region have achieved the targets for immunisation and smear testing.

At 1 October 1990, the latest figures available, 74 per cent. of GPs in the Northern regional health authority area had achieved the higher target level for immunisations and 20 per cent. had achieved the lower target level. The corresponding figures for cervical cytology targets were 72 per cent. and 27 per cent. I congratulate all those involved in this splendid achievement.
