To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish the number of deaths in (a) Liverpool and (b) Merseyside caused by joyriders in each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement.

The number of deaths of drivers or passengers of stolen vehicles was as follows:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has plans to take action against joyriders in the present Session of Parliament.

We will be bringing forward a Bill in the present Session to introduce a new offence of aggravated taking.
