To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the total number of magistrates courts that magistrates courts committees have decided to close in the last six months.

Information about individual magistrates' courthouse closures has not been routinely collected by the Home Office which, under the Justices of the Peace Act 1979, has a responsibility in relation to closure proposals only if there is an appeal by the relevant paying local authority.
