To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list his initiatives to assist renal patients; and if he will make a statement.

Dialysis facilities for patients suffering from end-stage renal failure have been provided at the following locations:

South West Wales
Main Renal Unit—Swansea15
Subsidiary Renal Unit—Carmarthen9
South East Wales
Main Renal Unit—Cardiff11
Subsidiary Renal Unit—Cardiff6
Subsidiary Renal Unit—Merthyr Tydfil6
Proposals for a unit at Newport have been invited from Gwent health authority. We have also established a kidney transplant unit at the Cardiff royal infirmary. The treatment of most renal patients, however, is in the hands of district health authorities.
