To ask the Secretary of State for Health what steps are being taken to ensure that at all artificial limb fitting centres there is adequate provision for professional counselling of amputees.

We know that some centres do employ professional staff specifically for counselling of limbless disabled people. It is not, however, a subject on which we have given central guidance and is a matter for individual health authorities.
