To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans his Department has for ensuring the size of Scottish constituencies conform to a United Kingdom average.

My right hon. Friend has no present intention to propose changes in the rules set out in schedule 2 of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, to which the Boundary Commission for Scotland is required to give effect by section 3(1) of that Act.
