To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he will consult interested parties on making the environmental benefits afforded by hill livestock compensatory allowances more specific.

My right hon. Friends and I have today issued a consultation document, seeking the views of interested parties on a package of measures designed to enhance environmental aspects of support for hill farming. Copies have been placed in the Library. We will study the views put to us carefully before drawing final conclusions.
