To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to discuss with the Greater Glasgow health board the proposed cuts in the number of home visits made by health visitors.

I have no plans to do so. The board proposes to extend the benefits of the health visitor service to those who need it most by improving its efficiency and re-directing its efforts to the most vulnerable groups. This will result in an increase from 317,000 visits last year to an expected 540,000 contacts in 1992.
