To ask the Secretary of Stale for Education and Science what rates of inflation he has applied in estimating the real increases in the science budget over the three years 1992–93 to 1994–95.

My right hon. and learned Friend used the forecast Treasury GDP deflators of 4·5 per cent. for 1992–93, 3·75 per cent. for 1993–94 and 3 per cent. for 1994–95 announced in the 1991 autumn statement.
