Mr. Loyden
To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will investigate the case of the constituent of the hon. Member for Liverpool, Garston, Mr. D. H. Bullock, who was admitted to Broadgreen hospital, Liverpool on 25 September 1991, discharged on 9 October 1991, and re-admitted on 13 October 1991; and if he will make a statement.
Mr. Dorrell
We have received a full report on this case, which concerns a patient who contracted legionnaires disease at the cardiothoracic centre, Liverpool. We are satisfied that the hospital took immediate action to both isolate the infection and to take the necessary measures in line with the two codes of practice issued by the Health and Safety Executive and this Department.
