To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will break down the real increases or decreases at 1991 prices in expenditure for all benefits from 1979 to 1991 showing what amount and proportion is attributable to (a) a rise or fall in the real level of benefit, (b) a rise or fall in the numbers claiming benefits and (c) other factors.

The information requested could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
