To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make it his policy to give assistance to the Russian military nuclear authorities to decontaminate the radioactive pollution at the Mayak atomic complex and the nearby Techa river near Chelyabinsk.

In conjunction with our NATO partners, we are ready to consider requests for assistance in the nuclear field from the successor states to the former Soviet Union. NATO is reviewing where best that effort might be directed.
