To ask the Secretary of State for Health what payments have been made, and on what dates, to the Macfarlane Trust to help those infected with HIV; and what proposals he has to keep this fund topped up to meet future needs.

A payment of £10 million was made to the Macfarlane Trust on 16 March 1988. Payments have been made to the trust annually in respect of its administrative costs. The Government have made it clear that the amounts available to the trust would be kept under review.
