Mr. Kirkwood
To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what consultations have been held with the officials and members of Lothian health board to discuss their latest management proposals; and if he will make a statement outlining the Government's view of the proposals.
Mr. Michael Forsyth
[holding answer 19 February 1992]: Officials of the management executive of the national health service in Scotland are aware that Lothian health board is considering possible changes to the structure of the units of the board and 1 would expect the board to notify the management executive of its proposals before a final decision is taken. Changes in unit management arrangements are a matter for the board itself.
