These projects are at different stages of planning and approval. Construction of the Jubilee line extension is expected to begin shortly after Royal Assent. Construction of crossrail is expected to begin in 1995–96. The route of the Chelsea-Hackney line has been safeguarded, but no decision has been taken about when or whether the project should proceed. The Croydon tramlink, the DLR Lewisham extension and the Heathrow express are all projects which the Government expect to be taken forward by the private sector.
