To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent discussions he has had with his European counterparts on the question of human rights in East Timor.

We are in regular contact with our European Community partners on this question, and with other western countries at the current session of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights in Geneva. The EC issued a further statement on the East Timor question on 13 February.
