Lords amendment: No. 27. in page 59, line 10, after ("payments") insert ("or repayments").
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland
(Mr. Allan Stewart)
I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said amendment.
Clause 87(8)(a) provides for regulations to be made requiring a person to make adjustments to his council tax payments to reflect an alteration to the banding of his dwelling. It is thought that the clause would allow regulations to require payment to be made or to provide for repayment of overpaid amounts. However, the absence of the word "repayments", which appears in the equivalent English clause—clause 24—may cast doubt on that. The amendment, which is purely technical, would remove any such doubt.Question put and agreed to.
Subsequent Lords amendment agreed to.
