To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what advice his Department has been asked to give to Commonwealth countries on the holding of elections in the past year.

We have agreed to provide the Lesotho Government with a chief election officer for their forthcoming elections, and have responded to requests from the Governments of Bangladesh, Zambia and Guyana for Commonwealth monitors and advisers.
