To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement about the implementation of EC regulation No. 866/90 in the United Kingdom, including the type of projects which have received assistance and the amount spent.

EC regulation 866/90 has been fully implemented in the United Kingdom and the first round of awards was approved by the Commission on 13 December 1991. This allocated grants totalling £15·2 million to 53 marketing and processing projects in the redmeat, pigment, milk, horticulture, potatoes, cereals, protein crops, poultry and egg sectors. The first claims for grant have only recently been received and are now being checked before payment.
