To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many day cases were dealt with in national health service units in Wales in 1978–79 and at the latest available date.

In the financial year 1978–79 there were 26,456 day cases treated by the National Health Service in Wales. The equivalent figure for the financial year 1990–91—the latest available—was 100,765, an increase of 281 per cent.
