To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many applications have been made under section 49 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 to each local authority in Wales; what proportion of the applications have been successful; and what total figure for each local authority has been reduced or remitted.

This information is not collected centrally. The granting of relief is a matter for individual local authorities. Welsh local authorities granted a total of £1,937 relief under section 49 in 1990–91.
