To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what new policies he intends to introduce on forestry management in Wales following the agreement of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development on joint principles to protect the world's forests.

The guiding objective of the UNCED statement of principles on forests is

"to contribute to the management, conservation and sustainable development of forests and to provide for their multiple and complementary functions and uses."
We are satisfied that forest management practices in Wales meet with this objective.
