To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security when he intends to announce proposals which equalise the retirement age of men and women; and if he will make a statement.

The Government are committed to the equalisation of state pension age. No decisions have yet been made on what option should be adopted.We will announce our proposals for equalisation when we have fully considered the views expressed by both the public and interested organisations and its implications for related developments in the private pensions sector.
