To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the total amount of noise compensation paid out by his Department to property owners in the vicinity of RAF Leeming since the stationing of Tornado aircraft at the base.

As at the end of March 1993 my Department has paid out £8,903,000 in noise compensation to entitled claimants.
