To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what percentage of letters received from hon. Members he has referred to the chief executive of the Benefits Agency in the last 12 months.

Between 1 April 1992 and 31 March 1993 a total of 14,316 letters were received from hon. Members. Of these, 2,770–19 per cent.—were referred to Mr. Michael Bichard, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency.
