To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what representations he has received from organisations and individuals in support of implementing a boarder premium for homeless families living in temporary accommodation; and what plans he has to meet the London Homelessness Forum.

We receive representations on many aspects of social security, including a number about the benefit arrangements for people living in temporary accommodation. I shall be meeting the London Homelessness Forum on 13 May 1993.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many boarder claimants received the eating out allowance in 1988–89; and what was the annual cost.

No data are available on either cost or the number of boarders who received an additional allowance for meals.
