Mr. John Marshall
To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many schools in Wales have become grant-maintained schools.

Seven, and well over 100 schools have contacted my Department for information about becoming grant-maintained. I am pleased to announce that my right hon. Friend has today decided that Ysgol Derwen in Clwyd shall become the eighth grant-maintained school in Wales from 1 September this year.
