To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what progress is being made on the Merlin programme.
Mr. Aitken
Good progress is being made on our order for 44 of the Merlin anti-submarine warfare variant of the EH101 for the Royal Navy. The collaborative development with Italy of the basic EH101 aircraft is also progressing well, and the flight test programme is some two thirds complete.
