To ask the Secretary of State for Defence from which (a) current and (b) former officers he has received reports or other documents relating to allegations concerning possible war crimes during the Falklands conflict; and if he will make a statement.

I have seen one letter from a former officer who served in the Falklands during the conflict in 1982. I have also received reports from within the Department on the allegations of possible war crimes. The allegations are currently being investigated by the Metropolitan police who have the full co-operation of my Department. During the course of their investigations, the Metropolitan police continue to have access to all relevant departmental and regimental files.
