To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the revenue forgone by the Exchequer because of the abolition of the car tax.

Abolition of car tax has an estimated revenue cost of £100 million in 1992–93 and £750 million in 1993–94. The loss from 1993–94 onwards has been offset by an increase in road fuel duties.
