To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many (a) men and (b) women were in employment in Wales in each year since 1984; and if he will indicate the number which were (a) full-time employees, (b) part-time employees, (c) full-time self-employed, (d) part-time self-employed and (e) on Government employment and training programmes.
Figures for men and women in employment and those on work-related Government training programmes may be accessed on-line by the staff in the Library of the House, although information distinguishing between full and part-time male employment was available in census of employment years only prior to 1989.Estimates of the number of self-employed which are derived from the labour force survey and which may be subject to sampling variability are given in the table:
