To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) how many women aged 50 years and over each year (a) have breast cancer diagnosed, (b) die from breast cancer and (c) receive treatment and survive;(2) how many women aged under 50 years each year

(a) have breast cancer diagnosed, (b) die from breast cancer, and (c) are treated and survive.

The information requested is given for the number of deaths for the years 1983–1992 and registrations for the years 1983–1987.

The figures for five-years survival rates are published only by 10-year age groups from 1981 registrations, as shown in the table.
