Education Spending

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what proportion of county council spending in Wales was allocated to education; and what proportion of the total spending of each county council in Wales was allocated to education for each of the last 10 years.

County council spending on education as a proportion of total county council spending on all rate/general fund services is given in the table. Figures are available on a consistent basis only for the last eight years.

  • (b) Outturn
  • (c) Revised estimates
  • (d) Budgets; most higher education expenditure excluded, as function transferred to Central Government.
