To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps are taken to ensure that the training of judges, and those about to be elevated to the Bench, includes a course on the handling of sexual assault and rape cases.

My right hon. Friend has provided additional administrative and financial support in recent years to facilitate the development of training to meet the needs of the judiciary. The content of judicial training is a matter for the judiciary and comprehensive information is not available centrally on the training undertaken by individual judges.
