To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received from the Magistrates Association on the operation of the unit fines system since his statement of 13 May.

Since 13 May 1993, my right hon. and learned Friend has received no formal representations from the Magistrates Association, but Home Office officials met representatives of the association on 20 May to discuss options for replacing the current unit fine provisions.
